Bob's Discount Furniture in Bel Air: What's Coming to Tollgate Marketplace (2026) + Where to Shop Furniture Locally

Last updated: Oct. 24, 2026

Bob's Discount Furniture is coming to Bel Air. It's taking the old Jo-Ann Fabrics space at Tollgate Marketplace, 615 Baltimore Pike. As of Oct. 24, 2026, no public opening date has been posted.

Need furniture before then? Harford County has some great local stores too. I list them below.

Where is Bob's Discount Furniture going in Bel Air?

It's going into Tollgate Marketplace at 615 Baltimore Pike, Bel Air, MD 21014. That's the shopping center by Route 1 and Route 24, next to the Harford Mall area.

Bob's takes the old Jo-Ann Fabrics spot. The center's leasing plan lists the Bob's space at about 46,000 square feet. That's a big showroom.

When does Bob's open in Bel Air?

There's no public date yet. Here's what I can confirm:

• The Tollgate Marketplace leasing plan, dated Aug. 26, 2026, lists Bob's Discount Furniture as a tenant.
• Bob's posted "New Store" manager jobs for Bel Air. Those jobs now show as filled.
• Bob's own store page for Bel Air doesn't show hours or an opening date yet.

Filled manager jobs usually mean a store is getting close. But that's my read, not a date. I'll update this post when Bob's posts one.

What is Bob's Discount Furniture?

It's a furniture and mattress chain. Bob Kaufman opened the first store in Connecticut in 1991. They sell furniture and decor for every room, plus mattresses.

Until the Bel Air store opens, the closest Bob's is in White Marsh at 5210 Campbell Blvd., Nottingham, MD 21236. That's about 13 miles from Bel Air.

What else is new at Tollgate Marketplace?

A lot. Tollgate has had a busy 2026:

• Burtons Grill & Bar opened April 21 in the old TGI Fridays. I wrote up the menu and crowd favorites.
• Wonder, the food hall with 30+ restaurants in one order, opened April 9 at 131 N. Tollgate Rd. Here's my Wonder update.
• Boot Barn is listed on the center's leasing plan too.

Sprouts, HomeSense, Michaels, Dick's and TJ Maxx are still there too.

Where can I buy furniture in Harford County right now?

You don't have to wait for Bob's. These local stores are open now. Each has its own style, so pick the one that fits your home and budget.

Jarrettsville Furniture, Jarrettsville 3743 Federal Hill Rd., Jarrettsville, MD 21084. It's been at the same spot since the early 1970s. The showroom is 35,000 square feet with many brands and price points. The store says delivery, set up and removal are free with every purchase. They carry a big mattress lineup too. Near Jarrettsville.

Gavigan's Home Furnishings, Forest Hill (Bel Air showroom) 1503 Rock Spring Rd., Forest Hill, MD 21050. A Maryland family business since 1980 with six showrooms. Walk-ins are welcome, and they offer custom furniture too. Close to Forest Hill.

Harford Home Furniture & Mattress, Churchville 3036 Churchville Rd., Churchville, MD 21028. Family owned since 1991. It used to be called Brass & Oak Galleries. They focus on furniture handcrafted in the USA. On Amish pieces you can choose the wood, stain, hardware and size.

Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna ReStore, Aberdeen 1013 Beards Hill Rd., Aberdeen, MD 21001. New and gently used furniture, home goods and building supplies. What's there changes all the time. Your money helps Habitat build homes here. Check their site for hours before you go.

How do I save money on furniture?

Here's the quick version. This is the same stuff I tell buyers after closing:

1. Measure first. Rooms, doors, stairs and hallways. A sofa that won't fit up the stairs is no deal.
2. Ask about delivery. Some stores include it. Some charge. Know before you buy.
3. Buy the big stuff first. Bed, couch, table. Decor can wait.
4. Check the floor models. Ask the store if they sell them.
5. Don't skip used. The ReStore is a good spot for solid wood pieces.
6. Wait on closing day. If you're buying a home, don't open a new store credit card before closing. It can mess with your loan. Talk to your lender first.

That last one matters. I've seen it cause problems.

What does this mean for Bel Air?

A big empty space is getting filled. That's good news for Tollgate. More stores means more reasons to shop close to home. And it gives Bel Air shoppers one more option next to the local stores we already have.
