Broom's Bloom Dairy in Bel Air: Farm Ice Cream, Lunch, and Fall Visit Tips
Broom's Bloom Dairy is a family dairy farm at 1700 S. Fountain Green Road in Bel Air. They milk their own cows and make the ice cream, cheese, and bottled milk right on the farm. It's open Tuesday through Sunday and closed every Monday.
If you want a fall weekend stop that isn't a mall, this is a good one.
What is Broom's Bloom Dairy?
It's a working dairy farm in Harford County. The same family has farmed this land since the 1700s. They're on their ninth generation now.
David and Kate Dallam started milking cows here in 1997. The farm store opened in 2004. In 2021 they added their own milk plant. So the milk goes from the barn to the bottle without leaving the farm.
Their daughters, Emmy and Belle, are the ninth generation working the farm.
What do they sell?
Here's what you'll find at the farm store:
- Ice cream made on the farm. Flavors change day to day. Check the board when you walk in.
- Bottled milk from their own cows: whole, 2%, and chocolate.
- Cheese made from their milk, including cheddar.
- Pork sausage made by the farm.
- Local meat and eggs. Beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, and eggs from Harford farms. The turkey and chicken come from Homelands, a Churchville farm run by Emmy and Lucas Beavers.
- Lunch. Soups, sandwiches, mac and cheese, and crab soup show up on the menu.
- Ice cream pies and cakes. These are seasonal. Call ahead to ask what's ready.
The cafe uses their own cheese. Their grilled cheese is made with the farm's own aged cheddar. They milk the cows, make the cheese, and put it on your sandwich. That's about as local as lunch gets.
Save this before you go. Hours from the farm's website as of Oct. 16, 2026.

The farm's website lists new hours that started Sept. 8:
- Ice cream and grocery: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday
- Lunch cafe: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday
- Closed: every Monday
Lunch food sells out. The farm says to be happy if there's still cafe food after 3 p.m. If lunch is the goal, go early or call first at 410-399-2697.
Where is it, and how do I get there?
1700 S. Fountain Green Road (Route 543), Bel Air, MD 21015
It's a few miles off I-95 and Route 22. From I-95, take Exit 80 for Route 543 and head toward Churchville. The farm is on the left after you cross Route 136. If you hit the light at Wheel Road, you went too far.
There's outdoor picnic seating, so a nice day helps.
Can I find Broom's Bloom outside the farm?
Yes. Broom's Bloom is a vendor at the Bel Air Farmers' Market. The market runs Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon, through Nov. 21, 2026, at 2 S. Bond Street in downtown Bel Air.
The farm was also one of two Harford stops on the 2026 Maryland's Best Ice Cream Trail. Keyes Creamery was the other. That trail ran May 21 to Sept. 7, so it's done for this year.
Tips for a fall visit
- Skip Mondays. They're closed.
- Go before 3 p.m. for lunch. Food runs out.
- Bring a cooler. You'll want milk, cheese, or a quart of ice cream to take home.
- Call about pies and cakes. Handy if you're hosting this fall.
- Check hours before a long drive. Holiday hours can change.
