Tidewater Grille is a seafood and steak restaurant right on the water at 300 Franklin St. in Havre de Grace. Go for the crab cakes and the view of the Susquehanna River. It's open every day for lunch and dinner, with breakfast on Sundays.

Here's the quick version. You can sit on the deck, on the lawn, in the 4-seasons porch, in the dining room or at the bar, and you see water from all of them. You can even pull up by boat.

Where is Tidewater Grille?

It sits at the foot of Franklin Street, right where the town meets the river. It is in view of the headwaters of the Chesapeake Bay. I cover more about the town on my Havre de Grace page.

The big show here is the river. You watch boats, birds and trains rolling across the old Amtrak bridge. Kids love the trains. So do I.

What should I order at Tidewater Grille?

Start with the crab. That's what people come for.

Crab cakes: Two broiled homemade crab cakes with two sides, or one on a toasted roll. Both are market price, so ask.
Cream of crab soup: Crab, cream and sherry. Cup $6, bowl $8.
Crab dip: Crab, cream cheese and a little Old Bay, with pretzel sticks. $18.
Steamed shrimp: Half a pound with Old Bay and onions. $17.

Not a seafood person? There are steaks, burgers, pasta and salads. The Chesapeake Burger comes topped with crab dip and bacon. Many dishes can be made gluten-free.

Prices are from the restaurant's online menu on Oct. 30, 2026. They change, so check before you go. The menu also says card payments get a 3.5% surcharge.

Is Tidewater Grille open for breakfast?

Yes, on Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon. Think eggs Benedict, waffles, pancakes and an omelet station. The Eggs Delmarva adds jumbo lump crab. Sunday also brings $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys.

What are the weekly specials?

The restaurant lists a different deal most nights. Confirm before you go, because the lineup changes:

Monday: Steak and whiskey night.
Tuesday: Tequila and Tex-Mex specials all day.
Wednesday: Trivia night.
Thursday: $4 house wine, burger specials and crab cake specials.
Friday and Saturday: Live music at night.
Sunday: Breakfast and $5 mimosas.

Happy hour runs Monday to Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the bar, with cheaper apps like crab dip and mussels.

Is there live music at Tidewater Grille?

My take

If friends are visiting from out of town, this is an easy pick. Get a table by the glass, order crab cakes and wait for a train to roll by. Then walk Franklin Street after dinner.
