Want to give back in Abingdon this holiday season? Here's the fast way. Drop a new, unwrapped toy at the Abingdon Library for the Empty Stocking Fund. Stock the 24/7 pantry shelf at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Or bring food to the county food bank in Edgewood.

Abingdon is one of the busiest parts of Harford County, so there's a lot of need and a lot of ways to help. I list dates only when the group has posted them for 2026.

This is part of my county guide, How to Give Back in Harford County This Holiday Season.

Toy Drop-Offs in Abingdon

The Empty Stocking Fund is a volunteer group that helps Harford families at the holidays with toys, food and clothing. Bring a new, unwrapped toy, game or craft item to one of its Abingdon drop spots:

  • Abingdon Library, 2510 Tollgate Rd.
  • Box Hill Pizzeria and Carryout, 2915 Emmorton Rd.
  • Harco-co Credit Union, 3422 Emmorton Rd.

Confirm before you go.

Abingdon Food Pantries

These come from HCAA's October 2026 pantry list. Call first and ask what they're low on.

Pantry Address Phone
St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church 1450 Abingdon Rd. 410-676-5119
St. Mary's Episcopal Church (24/7 self-serve) 1 St. Mary's Church Rd. 410-569-0180

A 24/7 self-serve pantry is simple. You leave food on the shelf, and neighbors take what they need, any time. Canned goods, pasta and peanut butter are always good picks.

The County Food Bank in Edgewood

The Harford Community Action Agency food bank is at 1321-B Woodbridge Station Way in Edgewood. It takes food Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Top needs include pasta, peanut butter, canned soup, instant mashed potatoes, diapers and toiletries. Short on time? HCAA says every $1 helps provide 5 meals.

My Take

Abingdon folks drive Emmorton Road every day. Toss a toy in the car and drop it at Box Hill Pizzeria when you grab dinner. That's it. You just helped a kid have a better Christmas.
