How to Give Back in Havre de Grace, MD This Holiday Season (2026)
Published Oct. 30, 2026 | Last updated: Oct. 30, 2026
Want to give back in Havre de Grace this holiday season? Start with Harford Family House's Homegrown Hope giving day on Nov. 19, with a celebration at Hopkins Farm Brewery. Then drop a new, unwrapped toy at the Havre de Grace Library for the Empty Stocking Fund.
Havre de Grace is home to Harford Family House, the county's largest shelter provider, and a Salvation Army office. Here's how to help, with 2026 dates only where the group has posted them.
This is part of my county guide, How to Give Back in Harford County This Holiday Season.
Harford Family House
Harford Family House is based at 421 S. Union Ave. It's the largest provider of shelter for people without a home in Harford County. In November it's running:
- Homegrown Hope giving day, Thu., Nov. 19: Give online all day. The celebration runs 5 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Farm Brewery, 3833 Rider Lane.
- Supply drive, all November: Drop non-perishable food, paper products and plasticware at one of 50+ spots around the county.
- Online gift drive: Order supplies on their gift drive page and they ship right to the shelter.
Want to volunteer? Their volunteer page lists holiday events and pantry help. Call (410) 273-6700.

My Take
Havre de Grace shows up for its neighbors. Pick one thing on this list, like a toy at the library or a night at Homegrown Hope, and do it this week.
