Falling Branch Brewery in Street, MD: Farm Beer, Hours and Family Events
Published Oct. 30, 2026 | Last updated: Oct. 30, 2026
Falling Branch Brewery is a family farm brewery at 825 Highland Rd. in Street, MD. It's open Thursday through Sunday, and kids and leashed dogs are welcome.
It was Harford County's first farm brewery. The family grows hops on the farm, pours in an old barn, and has a playground and farm animals for the kids. In November, the big draw is Pumpkin Chunkin' on Nov. 7, 8, 14 and 15.
Our team filmed PumpkinFest here in September. Watch it on YouTube: PumpkinFest at Falling Branch Brewery.

Where is Falling Branch Brewery?
It's on Highland Road in Street, in the farm country of northern Harford County. Pylesville and Whiteford are just up the road. From Bel Air, it's a pretty country drive.
There's a concrete lot past the taproom and a grass lot by the entrance on Highland Road. In warm months and fall, the concrete lot can fill up, so use the grass lot.
How does the farm grow its own beer?
This farm has been in the same family since 1924. It started with hogs. Then it was a dairy for decades.
Here's the short version of what changed:
- 2012: Maryland created a farm brewery license. To get it, a farm has to use something it grows in its beer.
- 2015: Alex Galbreath, the fourth generation on the farm, started brewing. He had planted hops a few years before, since they take time to grow in.
- 2021: A 15-barrel brewhouse went in, so they could brew a lot more beer on site.
Today the farm is about 100 acres. The taproom is a fixed-up barn from the 1800s, and the hops grow in the fields around it. That's the "farm" in farm beer.

What does Falling Branch pour?
The brewery lists 16 rotating taps. It makes beer, hard cider, hard seltzer and frozen slushies, all on the farm.
The October 2026 tap list had something for most people:
- Light and easy: Clear Skies, a helles lager. Old Line State, a Maryland pilsner made with all Maryland ingredients.
- IPAs: Early Riser, a hazy IPA, plus a double IPA and a West Coast IPA.
- Dark and malty: Root Cellar, a brown porter with a sweet potato casserole twist. Rock Hands, a hoppy amber ale.
- Seasonal: Crumbling Pumpkin, a pumpkin ale with spices and vanilla.
Most 16-ounce pours were $7 to $8.50 on that list. The lineup changes often, so check the current tap list on the brewery's site.
Need gluten-free? The brewery says it keeps at least one gluten-free drink on tap, like a cider or seltzer.
Can you eat at Falling Branch Brewery?
Yes. The Hawks Hill Grill food truck is open every day the taproom is. It closes one hour before the taproom does.
The September 2026 menu had burgers, wraps, an Old Bay rockfish wrap, wings, fish and chips and pretzel bites with beer cheese. For dessert, it listed ice cream from Broom's Bloom Dairy.
Guest food trucks also show up on event days. And you can bring your own food. Just no outside alcohol.
Is Falling Branch Brewery kid-friendly and dog-friendly?
Yes to both. This is one of the easier brewery trips with little kids.
- Kids: There's a playground, farm animals to visit and a big lawn to run on.
- Dogs: Well-behaved dogs are welcome inside and outside. They have to stay on a leash.
- Seating: On spring, summer and fall weekends, the brewery suggests bringing lawn chairs or a blanket.
- Cold days: The barn taproom is heated. The beer garden has fire pits and heaters.
The brewery also says the taproom and beer garden are handicap accessible.

Are there any deals or happy hours?
I didn't find any discount codes. The weekly specials are the deal, and they're dine-in only:
- Thursday happy hour, 5 to 8 p.m.: Buy one, get one burgers and 25% off slushies.
- Friday happy hour, 1 to 6 p.m.: 50% off flights and appetizers.
The brewery also lists free weekly fun: trivia on Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m., live music on Saturdays from 3 to 7 p.m., music bingo on Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m., and open mic on the first and third Thursdays. Confirm before you go.
My take
If you've got kids, a dog, or friends who don't all drink the same thing, this is an easy pick. Go on a Saturday afternoon in November, launch a pumpkin, grab a burger and sit by the fire pit.
